The Noordermeerdijk in the Noordoostpolder, province of Flevoland, is not only a central element of Dutch coastal defence, but also a key location for the national energy transition. As part of the historic Zuiderzee Works, the dyke has been protecting the newly reclaimed land from flooding for decades. Today, it is also the site of important infrastructure for the generation of renewable energy.
One of the largest photovoltaic parks in the country is currently being built along the Noordermeerdijk - a joint project between GOLDBECK SOLAR, the municipal energy company HVC and eleven regional farmers.
Project data at a glance:
- Installed capacity: 98 MWp
- Number of modules: approx. 161,000 bifacial solar modules
- Annual electricity yield: approx. 93 GWh
- Supply capacity: around 37,500 households
